Help starts here. Mealtime Together understands that every child is unique and requires a personalized approach to feeding therapy. We're committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care that is rooted in the latest research and best practices.
The feeding therapist completes an evaluation in your child's home, which includes observation of a regularly scheduled meal and a discussion of your child’s feeding history along with relevant medical status. This will help determine if Mealtime Together can provide appropriate support for your child.
Please note that your child must be medically cleared by a physician, speech-language pathologist, or occupational therapist before beginning feeding therapy in our program.
Sessions take place in your child’s home, school, and/or community settings and are scheduled based on your child’s needs. Individualized short-term goals will be worked on each session by the feeding therapist and can include expanding nutritional variety, increasing volume of solids and liquids, bottle weaning, self-feeding, decreasing refusal behaviors. Caregiver(s) will then be trained to continue implementing mealtime modifications, as recommended by the therapist, in order to advance your child’s feeding skills and mealtime behaviors between sessions.
Between these visits your feeding therapist will keep in contact with your family and provide support to ensure success in the treatment program.
Mealtime Together collaborates with healthcare providers to provide comprehensive care for children with feeding difficulties. The feeding therapist works closely with pediatricians, gastroenterologists, and other healthcare providers to ensure that each child receives the care and support they need, in accordance with any existing medical treatments, therapies, or diagnoses.
The feeding therapist provides virtual consultation to families who have experience with implementing behavioral treatment strategies or do not have access to in-person feeding therapy services. This treatment option is for children displaying less intensive feeding challenges and have strong oral motor skills. Further, caregivers must be confident in implementing therapy sessions independently.
